Long Range Transportation Planning

A Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is an initiative to inventory and analyze the Hualapai Tribe’s transportation infrastructure and develop recommendations to improve the greater transportation network over a 20-year period. LRTPs emphasize all aspects of the transportation network, including vehicles, public transportation, sidewalk and trail networks, bicycle facilities, and aviation.

The LRTP will inform the set of transportation projects shown in the Tribal Transportation Improvement Program by providing prioritized recommendations for how to improve the efficiency and safety of the local transportation network while balancing time, cost, effectiveness, and community input. The creation of this plan and other subsequent transportation efforts is a direct result of the Hualapai Tribe’s dedication to safety and maintenance of its roadway system.  A link to the Tribe’s 2014 LRTP can be found here.

Safety Action Plan

A Safety Action Plan (SAP) is a strategic effort to identify and address transportation safety concerns within a community. Its purpose is to better understand where and why serious crashes happen, and to develop practical, data-driven solutions that can reduce or prevent them in the future. The Hualapai SAP will focus on identifying high-risk areas on the roadway network, examining patterns in crashes or near-misses, and gathering input from community members about their safety concerns. This plan is an important step toward creating a safer transportation system for everyone and draws on the LRTP for important existing conditions analysis. It also lays the foundation for future funding opportunities, such as federal safety grants, to implement recommended improvements. A link to the Tribe’s 2015 SAP can be found here.

Transportation Asset Management Plan

A Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP) is a strategic and systematic process of operating, maintaining, and improving transportation assets such as roads, bridges, and signs. The objective is to develop investment strategies for maintenance, preservation, repair, and replacement that optimize the lifecycle and minimize costs.  A key component of the Hualapai TAMP will be a pavement condition index which analyzes the Tribal roadways and is used to prioritize maintenance of those assets in the greatest need.
